What is the Data Protection Act 1998?

The Data Protection Act 1998 is a European law that protects the data from individuals from abuse. It is an Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland that defines UK law on the handling of data on identifiable living individuals. The legislation has been superseded by the Data Protection Act 2018 in September 2018.
