An Email Marketing Glossary Entry

What is Deep linking?

A deep link is a link which redirects you directly to the particular page and not to the main / homepage of that website. Let me quote Wikipedia here: On the World Wide Web, deep linking is making a hyperlink that points to a specific page or image on a website, instead of that website’s main or home page. Such links are called deep links. Deep links are particularly valuable for SEO. Linking to specific pages within your site with a good anchor text improves the rankings of these pages. Essentially, building deep links is where SEO game is won or lost.
